We all remember the unit on archery from our elementary school gym classes and the steps involved in learning the sport. One of the most important steps is the “draw,” the act of pulling back the arrow, before it can make forward progress.

Because of the pandemic, life has slowed down significantly for me and my family. While I continue to be SUPER busy with working on all things Yellow Parachute, the amount of running around we’re doing for social outings and kid activities has diminished significantly… and I like this slower pace!

I encourage you to take advantage of these long, hot days of summer and life’s slower pace to inventory what you and your family need to be focusing on in order to have a successful fall from an academic perspective. I’m talking about more than just working to slow the summer “brain drain…” although we can help with that too! What I’m referring to is taking a full inventory of your student’s successes and challenges from the last school year. Where did they do well? What areas was a struggle? How did distance learning go? Were some subjects better than others? What areas do you feel your kiddo is behind in and could use a little extra help this summer?

Here in Minnesota, we don’t yet know what school will look like in the fall. We’re anticipating the state’s decision on which model of learning will be in the best interest of the health and safety of students, school staff and school communities for the 2020-2021 school year by the end of July. Regardless of the decision, I know not everyone is going to be pleased. I anticipate there will be challenges and changes.

I am confident Yellow Parachute Academy is uniquely prepared for whatever the 2020-2021 school year throws at us and the same goes for Yellow Parachute Learning Partners. We’re here to support YOU!

So often in life we feel like we are moving backwards in our journey. Remember, oftentimes you have to pull back the arrow to move forward. Change is a process. If there’s anything I can do to help your and your family with that process… you know where to find me.
