There is so much that goes into designing a logo. This week I want to share with you, in my own words, some details about the Yellow Parachute Learning Partners logo you may have not noticed before.

First things first… the parachute. At Yellow Parachute Learning Partners our approach emphasizes the reciprocal relationship between Learning Coach and student. We understand the Learning Coach not as a “rescuer” – parachuting in to save the day – but as a jump-instructor, leaping alongside the student to provide instruction and encouragement while sharing the thrills and risks of learning. We jump in to relieve parent/student stress and equip families with tools to transform their relationships on the path to a student’s success. Learning is too precious an endeavor to waste on conflict between parent and child!

If you take a closer look at the parachute’s canopy, you can see it’s in the design of a thumb print. At Yellow Parachute Learning Partners we say, and celebrate the fact, that each learner is as unique as their thumbprint. That’s the connection for the thumbprint being incorporated into our logo in the design of the parachute’s canopy.

The five cords of the parachute signify the five ways Yellow Parachute Learning Coaches use to connect to the Hope Trilogy (I know where I am, I know where I want to go, and I have the resources to get there)

  1. Establish an environment that enables vulnerability, curiosity and authenticity
  2. Get to the heart of the matter to seek growth and change
  3. Coach growth mindset & GRIT
  4. Foster habits of mind (executive function)
  5. Deliver high quality content instruction to help the student build agency (voice and choice) as a learner

The five cords also represent the countdown to blastoff, as in “5, 4, 3, 2, 1… blastoff!” At Yellow Parachute Learning Partners we talk a lot about having a goal, picturing yourself succeeding and planning the steps to get there. Once all that hard work is done, all that’s left, as Nike says, is to “Just Do It!” BLASTOFF!

You’ll also notice that the parachute cords connect directly above the “u” in the parachute. That’s no accident. At Yellow Parachute Learning Partners we meet you (our tutoring clients and their families) where you are, to help you get where you want to go.

Finally, yellow… Yellow is the color for happiness, hope, motion and light. It’s a happy color, full of hope and positivity, and it’s a color that grabs your attention. The correlation between yellow being the color of hope is especially important because our Learning Coaches practice what we refer to as “the Hope Trilogy,” a sequence of steps that, when practiced and over time, promotes increased persistence and feelings of well being, and an important pathway for  learning.

Teaching students to use the Hope Trilogy gives them the ability to access, engage with, and express learning behaviors and habits that put them on a successful path to becoming choice ready: ready to make the postsecondary and career choices that best suit the student’s unique interests, abilities, and desires to serve and participate in community and society.

And that, my friends, is what’s behind the Yellow Parachute Learning Partners logo. At the risk of going a little Cliff Clavin, I hope you enjoyed these “little known facts” behind our logo so you can better understand what we’re all about!

As always, if your student, school, or district has a need, please contact us. Yellow Parachute looks forward to jumping with you!
